Each of the seven Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) districts is supported by a full-time Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL), who works with law enforcement agencies to strengthen and enhance traffic safety efforts statewide. LELs are experienced law enforcement professionals who promote and report on agency participation in traffic safety campaigns, coordinate high-visibility enforcement initiatives and media events, conduct training sessions and Local Area Network (LAN) meetings, assist agencies with applying for and managing traffic safety grants, share critical data, and support Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs) and state traffic safety coalitions.
