Each of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) seven districts is supported by a full-time Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL), who serves as a vital link between the FDOT Safety Office and the law enforcement community to strengthen and enhance traffic safety initiatives across Florida.

LELs are experienced law enforcement professionals who partner with local, county, and state agencies to increase participation in high-visibility campaigns such as Click It or Ticket, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, and Operation Southern Slow Down.

They coordinate enforcement operations and press events, conduct training sessions and Local Area Network (LAN) meetings, assist agencies in securing and managing traffic safety grants, and facilitate the exchange of critical information, including crash data and trends, checkpoint planning, and legal updates. LELs also support Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs) and actively serve on state traffic safety coalitions.
