Traffic Quick Reference Guides

Quick Reference Guide
The quick reference guide has become a valuable resource for the Officer/Deputy/Trooper in the field. This guide contains commonly used traffic statutes, driver license information, and more. The guide has been reviewed and updated with current statutes at the time of development; however, with continuous changes in the law and driving regulations, you should always use this guide as a reference only and not a replacement for an official Florida Statute book. Notes pages are provided in the back of the guide to compile newer statutes or reference material you may require in the field.

Note: The newly updated Quick Reference Guide is currently in the printing process. Once available, they will be available from your District LEL.

This resource was developed in response to law enforcement’s need to better communicate with deaf or hard of hearing persons during a traffic stops or roadside contacts. The card contains illustrations and instructions to assist officers with communication or to assess a driver’s need. Using the images on both sides of the reference card, officers can explain the reason for a traffic stop or contact, ask for personal or vehicle documentation, or even inquire if the driver needs help (gas, directions, medical attention, tow, or repair). Finally, officers can indicate how a stop will be cleared (warning, citation issued, or arrest made).
