About the Campaign

Operation Southern Slow Down is an annual, week-long speed enforcement and public education campaign conducted in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the southeastern states of Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee, leveraging a longstanding tradition of collaboration. This initiative aims to reduce the high number of speed-related fatalities and serious injury crashes by targeting speeding and aggressive drivers on our roadways.

The Florida law enforcement initiative will kick off with multiple press conferences in media markets across the state on July 13, 2025. The speed enforcement mobilization will run from July 14 through July 19, 2025
