About the Campaign
Operation Southern Slow Down is an annual, week-long speed enforcement and public education campaign conducted in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the southeastern states of Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This initiative builds on a longstanding tradition of collaboration and aims to reduce speed-related fatalities and serious injury crashes by targeting speeding and aggressive driving violations.
Florida’s campaign will kick off with press conferences in media markets across the state. The enforcement mobilization will run from July 14 through July 19, 2025.

District Press Conference Schedule & Locations
Statewide, coordinated press conferences will be held in each FDOT District beginning at 1000 hours EST / 0900 hours CST on July 14, 2025. Agencies are asked to send uniformed representatives to arrive by 0930 hours EST / 0830 hours CST for setup.
